Author: Jennifer Armentrout

Source: Gift
Synopsis:
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Synopsis:
They call me 'New Girl'...
Ever since I arrived at exclusive, prestigious Manderly Academy, that’s who I am. New girl. Unknown. But not unnoticed—because of her.
Becca Normandy—that’s the name on everyone’s lips. The girl whose picture I see everywhere. The girl I can’t compare to. I mean, her going missing is the only reason a spot opened up for me at the academy. And everyone stares at me like it’s my fault.
Except for Max Holloway—the boy whose name shouldn’t be spoken. At least, not by me. Everyone thinks of him as Becca’s boyfriend but she’s gone, and here I am, replacing her. I wish it were that easy. Sometimes, when I think of Max, I can imagine how Becca’s life was so much better than mine could ever be.
And maybe she’s still out there, waiting to take it back.

Wings, Wings, and More Wings!!!
Hey everyone! Hopefully, as you know Wings of the Wicked comes out January 31, and in honorary of that, Momo over at Books over Boys came up with this great idea to do a mini blog tour just on her blog! I loved Angelfire so I jumped at the chance to be apart of this! Luckily I was chosen and here we are now!
If you haven't read Angelfire, then stop reading this post, go get the book, and begin reading. If you have read the book, then you are awesome and keep reading! Not that those of you who haven't read Angelfire aren't awesome, just not as awesome as the ones who have! :)
So I have a few pieces of jewelry that are really important to me. They were all given to me by various family members and I love them dearly.
Two of them are rings that my Mom gave me.
Another is a Pandora charm bracelet that my grandmother gave me, and the other is a Shama necklace that was given to my brother that I gladly took because he doesn't wear necklaces!
If you have read Angelfire, then you know that Ellie has a wing necklace that was hers from way back when. I am happy to show you some of my favorites that I found when I googled winged necklaces! :)
And here is an awesome picture of the ever crazy Nicki Minaj! I thought it would go well with the theme!! :)

The Replacement
Mackie Doyle is The Replacement - left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. He has been raised among us. But he is not one of us. Now, he must face the dark creatures of the slag heaps from which he came and find his rightful place - in our world or theirs. -from bn.com
As you may have been able to tell by the cover, this is a creepy book. It's a damp, gray town in The Replacement, and each flip of the page draws you in deeper to the mystery of the town and the peculiar happenings.
Mackie's cool. In my opinion anyway, which has to have some weight in your mind if you're reading this. Like the rest of us, he struggles with his life as a teen. He has a crush, doesn't enjoy school, and argues with his dad. But unlike most of us, he's allergic to iron and consecrated ground and it's slowly killing him. Not because he's a vampire- that would seem more normal- but something else. A replacement for the "real" Malcolm Doyle.
He's slowly dying, and when help appears he can take it- but at a price. He has to choose between the world where he came from- the wretched underworld of Mayhem- or the one he's known for his entire life. The place where he's never been conceived as "normal".
I think he makes some smart choices in the book, and the natural ebb and flow of the book is good. While this book was one of those that completely sucks you in, all the characters except Mackie- and possibly Tate- seem a bit flat. The storyline is a bit predictable, yes, but surprisingly when you add it all together the overall meaning and insight is strong. That's what makes it so good. At the end of this book, instead of seeing all the gray of the world, you might just see a little light, called hope. 38 of 51 tacos!

Review:
I didn't figure out that this was part of a series until I began reading. There were some things that Lindsey kept mentioning that I was like.. Um? Is there something I was missing. With that in mind, I still really liked this book. It kept my attention and it explained almost everything so I could keep up.
Cover: The cover is really pretty! I like how it shows her mark on her ankle, which I know understand. Plus the cover keeps it quite ominous and it was true to the book! Plus it has purple, I love purple! :)
Plot: The plot was a little confusing. Granted that this is the fourth book in the Mystyx series and a lot had happened in those three other books. For the most part it kept me interested, but there were some grammatical mistakes and sentence errors that I hope are corrected.
Characters:
So, first there's Lindsey. She is still the new girl, newly inducted cheerleader, and mind reader. Yes, you read that right, mind reader. She is a very interesting character from the beginning and yet, she's has the same thoughts and emotions we all have. She is strong and brave, but also a teenager who wants a relationship, which it was nice to be able to connect to her on that level.
The there's Dylan. I didn't really like Dylan. To me he was sketchy and evasive, never divulging any personal information about himself. Which I didn't like. If some random guy, even if he was the most popular and hottest guy in school, started paying attention to me I would be wondering what's up with that. Which is exactly what Dylan did. Sure, he had some very sweet moments and was nice at times, but I didn't like him.
All in all: It didn't make me want to read the other books to get the full story, but it was a good story on its own! I give it 31 out of 51 tacos!

Review:
I really enjoyed Halflings! It was amazing. It had me gasping, crying, awing, and doing a little happy dance. The writing was very well written and it was enjoyable all around.
Cover: The cover is quite simple. The wings in the background have a meaning, but I'm not gonna mention it! :) I love the simplicity of it. Some covers can rock the over done look, but this works perfectly!
Plot: The plot kept me interested throughout the whole book. It had many plot twists, even though I saw some of them coming. It was one of those stories that I read in a day, actually a couple hours and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Characters:
Lets start with Nikki. She was a kick butt black belt and an artist who did not run away. Even when being chased by Hell Hounds she ran, but in the end turned around and tried to fight. She stood up for what she believed in, and didn't take anyone's crap. She was in it till the end, and followed her gut. She sacrificed her happiness for someones well being!
Then there's Mace. Ah Mace. Everyone wants a Mace. He is sweet and caring, and only wants what's best for people. He is the rule follower and puts everyone's well being over his. He is the one that you would want to have your back, no matter what.
All in all: This was a really good book! It doesn't come out till February 1, but it is worth it to be put on your to be read list! 51 out of 51 tacos!

Review:
I really enjoyed this book. Anne has already done a review, but I thought I'd give my thoughts on it for a special post that Momo is doing at Books Over Boys! I had already read Angelfire and adored it! And Wings of the Wicked is coming out soon! I can't wait!! :)
Cover: The cover is gorgeous! To me, it shows power and grace that Ellie has. And I love the sword! It is awesome looking!! :) The fog in the background gives the book a creepy look to it and it works!
Plot: The plot was really interesting. There was a few down moments, but they worked. If a book was all action and no down time, we couldn't relate to it very well! My first thoughts were like.. Um what the heck are these dreams about her dying or killing things? There kinda freaky! You soon realize what those dreams mean, and everything just gets better from there! :)
Characters: Okay, Ellie first! She is one tough cookie! She has the world thrown at her and she doesn't crack! Ellie is one of those people you wish to be. Someone who is strong and has all the power in the world, but doesn't let it get to her head. She still cares about the people around her and about keeping everyone safe. Even her own Guardian angel, Will.
Speaking of Will.. Sighh... Will! He is one sexy beast! :) He would give his life up for Ellies in a heartbeat. He is strong and powerful, and he is faithful. I want a Will. He stands by Ellie no matter what, and will never give up on her. And I repeat, I want a Will.
All in all: I loved this book! I can't wait for Wings of the Wicked to come out! Thankfully, I don't have a long wait! Look out January 31. I'm waiting for you! 51 out of 51 tacos!

Review: Fallen in Love
Title: Fallen in Love
Author: Lauren Kate
Published: Jan 24, 2012
Source: eGalley
Synopsis:
What makes your heart race a little faster? Just in time for Valentine's Day, it's FALLEN IN LOVE, four wholly original new stories collected in a new novel set in the Middle Ages by Lauren Kate. FALLEN IN LOVE gives fans the much-talked about but never-revealed stories of FALLEN characters as they intertwine with the epic love story of Luce and Daniel. The stories include: Love Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles , Love Lessons: The Valentine of Roland; Burning Love: The Valentine of Arriane; and Endless Love: The Valentine of Daniel and Lucinda.
Review:
I really enjoyed this book! I love how you finally get to see the story told from different perspectives. Each story has it's own little plots. You learn new things about each character and it is nice to see those perspectives!
Cover: It's beautiful. I love how all of Lauren Kate's books have a girl in a beautiful dress and are just simple and they tell a story in each cover!
Plot: Each part had a different plot. They were all different and as interesting as the next. It was nice to have the stories of the different characters and to find out how certain things happened. Like how Arriane got her scares! And how each person used to have a love, and how being an angel made it go away.
Characters:
Shelby and Miles: I loved watching their Valentines day! It was so cute and how they slowly started to realize how close they really are. Sure, their focused on getting back to Shoreline, but they take the time to enjoy each others company in the Middle Ages!
Roland: It was really nice to get to know more of Roland. He wasn't always the way he was and it was good to know why. He was different from the calm, cool, and collected Roland he is in the actual books. You get to know what Roland really is like, and that made me love the demon even more!
Arriane: I learned some new things about Arriane. Like that she's gay, which doesn't bother me! It might have been mentioned in the books but I never picked up on it. You also learn how she got those nasty scares all over her body, which depressed me...
All in all: I really did enjoy this in between story. It was a chance to get inside of some of the other characters heads, which was a refresher! 41 out of 51 tacos!

Review: Obsidian
Title: Obsidian
Author: Jennifer Armentrout
Published: December 6, 2011

Synopsis:
Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Review:
I really enjoyed this book! It was interesting throughout the whole book. Sure, there were points that were a little slow, but I wanted to keep reading!
The cover is gorgeous!! I love the models on the front! Their stares are so intense and captivating, that this is what orginally drawn me to the book! The green in the title and background really offset the darkness/tanness of the models!
The plot was a little slow, and more could've happened, but it was all focused to the story. Every word in the story had a meaning. The writing style really came through like it was being told from a teenagers perspective, which I really enjoyed!
Let's begin with Katy! First she is a book blogger! A YA BOOK BLOGGER!!!! I LOVE HER! :) Whenever her blog was mentioned I did a little happy dance and was like: "I have one of those! We have SOO much in common!" Okay freak out done. :) Katy is strong and she doesn't back down from what she wants. Even when Daemon is standing there, staring at her with those intense big green eyes... Swoon! Plus she stays and fights something that is wayy out of her league!
Then there is Daemon. Daemon, with the perfect build and snarky attitude. The sexy alien next door. Yes, that's right. I said alien! He is very protective of his sister, Dee, and will do anything to protect her. Even if it means taking away her happiness, which thankfully she fights for! Daemon is very rude to Katy, who he calls Kitten, and if I were her I'd get over that rudeness and just fall in love with the guy... :)
I adored this book! It's a definite must read for anyone looking for a different paranormal story! 51 out of 51 tacos! Go buy it and read it ASAP! :)

Review:
I LOVED THIS BOOK! AHHHHH!!! WHY DID IT HAVE TO END?!?!?!?!?
Okay, that was my spaz moment for this review. And everything I just said is true. Carrier of the Mark was well-written, attention grabbing, and sexy. All the components a good book needs.
The cover was what originally what had drawn me to the book. And that everyone was talking about the ARC copy of this book on Twitter! I love how she is raised in the air and how the blue is connected to her. Plus the dress is beautiful!! :)
The plot was gripping throughout the whole book. It kept me attentive to the story the entire time. I was able to follow the story, even though the Irish slang was a little confusing. I thought the story ended a little abruptly though. The climax was in the last 20 or so pages and I think she could've expanded the story a little more.
I loved Megan's character. I can't say much about her because that would be spoilery and I don't do those type of reviews! I will say that she is strong and willing to give up anything for love. Even her own life. She takes control of the situation when she doesn't understand something and can take life altering news in stride!
Then there's Adam. *insert swoonage here* He's dark, mysterious, and handsome. The perfect combination! He is the boy that sits in the back and doesn't really talk to anyone. But when Megan comes to town, his swagger is gone, and suddenly he's tripping over himself to get away from her! But why is that? ;)
All in all, I loved this book! It easily get's 51 out of 51 tacos! It was a great read and I highly recommend it! GO READ IT NOW, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!! :)

Waiting on Wednesday: 1/11/12
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine! It showcases books that we can't wait on to come out!
This week I'm waiting on Because of Low by Abbi Glines!
In my debut novel, Breathe, Sadie may have fallen in love with the teen rock star, Jax Stone, but readers fell head over heels for Marcus Hardy. This is his story…
Marcus Hardy had hoped to enjoy a year away at college while he put the summer he’d rather forget behind him. But instead, he’s jerked right back to the coastal town of Sea Breeze, Alabama due to a family crisis. His dear ol' dad found himself a girlfriend only a few years older than Marcus. So now his sister needs help dealing with their mother who is mentally falling apart. The only bright spot to returning is the fascinating red head who sleeps over several times a week. The problem is she's sleeping in bed with his new roommate, Cage Watson.
Willow “Low” Foster needs a place to live. Running to Cage’s apartment every time her sister kicks her out isn’t exactly a long term solution. Juggling her courses at the local community college and a part time job doesn’t produce excess income. But Cage has a new roommate and suddenly sleeping over at her best friend’s apartment isn’t such a bad thing. Not when she gets to see those sexy green eyes of Marcus Hardy’s twinkle when he smiles at her like he wants her there.
Even though Cage seems a little territorial where Low is concerned, Marcus finds time to spend with Low without upsetting his roommate. Cage may use his small college baseball star persona to sleep with every hot female in his path but he’s still under the disillusion that when he’s through sowing his wild oats, he’s going to marry Low. Marcus intends to change that assumption for both Cage and Low. Until his carefully laid plans come crashing down with a revelation he never expected. He’ll have to choose between Low or his family. Because once the truth comes out.... there’s no other choice.

Waiting on Wednesday: 1/4/12
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine! It showcases books that we can't wait on to come out!
This week I'm waiting on Pure by Jennifer Armentrout!
There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
What are you waiting on this week?

Toxic Cover Reveal!
When a Six saved Kale’s life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she’d lose the one thing she’d give anything to keep… And as if it’s not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez's problems.
After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice—surrender to Denazen for the cure…or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn’t involve being bagged and tagged—or losing someone she loves—Dez keeps the poison a secret. But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there’s a traitor among them. Jade.
Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there’s any hope of proving Jade’s guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead...
