Waiting on Wednesday: 5/30/12

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine! It showcases books that we can't wait on to come out!
This week I'm waiting on Deity by Jennifer Armentrout!

History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time.

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday—to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"—which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time—she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
Deity is released on November 6, 2012

Review: Dark Kiss

Title: Dark Kiss
Author: Michelle Rowen
Published: May 22, 2012
Source: eGalley

Synopsis:
I don't do dangerous. Smart, über-careful, ordinary Samantha-that's me. But I just couldn't pass up a surprise kiss from my number-one unattainable crush. A kiss that did something to me...something strange. Now I feel hungry all the time, but not for food. It's like part of me is missing-and I don't know if I can get it back. Then there's Bishop. At first I thought he was just a street kid, but the secrets he's keeping are as intense as his unearthly blue eyes. If he's what I think he is, he may be the only one who can help me. But something terrifying is closing in, and the one chance Bishop and I have to stop it means losing everything I ever wanted and embracing the darkness inside me.... NIGHTWATCHERS When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...

Review:
Dark Kiss was one heck of a ride! You couldn't really predict what was going to happen next, which was nice to be surprised! The way it was written had you wanting to know what was going to happen next, and that you couldn't wait for what was going to happen!

Cover:
The cover is really dark and ominous and it sorta fits the book. I like the guy and the fact that he has his shirt open! ;) The wings fit how the cover is meant to look, but not how I pictured the main guy.

Plot/Writing:
There were parts of the story that didn't make sense, and that could have been explained a little bit more, but  other than that the writing was really good. Michelle had a air of mystery all throughout the book and it took a while for that to lift. Once it did lift the story got really good, and well.. It was awesome!

Characters:
Samantha is your average teenage girl, until one night at a club and a forbidden kiss. Sam is a very strong and independent girl, but she is also very confused. That doesn't stop her from accepting what she is and helping out the guys. It was very interesting to read about her story and how she deals with all these changes!

Bishop, the hot and very confused angel boy! He was described as super sexy (in my mind) and very dedicated! The whole time he is worrying about why his brain is fuzzy, and it seemed kind of pathetic. I know that he was very dedicated, but he couldn't do anything without touching Sam.. which was the one thing I didn't like..

All in All:
I enjoyed Dark Kiss, sure there were aspects I would change, but its like that with every book! Check it out if you like mysterious sexy angels!! 4 out of 5 tacos!

Review:The Immortal Rules

Title: The Immortal Rules
Author: Julie Kagawa
Published: April 24, 2012
Source: eGalley

Synopsis:
In a future world, Vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.

Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die… or become one of the monsters.

Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.

Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.

But it isn't easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.
Review:
Right from the beginning, Immortal Rules was one epic battle. Julie Kagawa did an amazing job with this one, and I can't wait for more! This might even inspire me into reading her Iron Fey series! At least... That's what I think its called...

Cover:
The cover actually scared me away from the book at first. Also, it being another vampire books. The cover creeped me out. The blood seeping from the eye of the girl, yea. Not my style.

Plot/Writing:
TIR jumped straight into the action. There was never a moment where I was bored at all! It was all epically amazing! It was all one big battle that never ended. I loved how the action was never ending and it kept you interested throughout the whole book! It was a very fast passed read, and a very enjoyable one at that! The story line made sense throughout and you were able to see how the story would progress and it was a good way to progress! Everything was so descriptive and detailed, you could picture everything going on in your head!

Characters:
Allie was changed, well, first she died, and then she was changed. She has been trying to adjust to the life of being an Immortal, and so far she is doing pretty well. She was strong and determined throughout the whole book to do what was good for people she barely knew. I really liked Allie, she was amazing!

Zeke! I love Zeke, who is the second in command of nomads looking for Eden. (I think that's what its called.) Zeke is loving, caring, and very strong! He's selfless and very sweet, he takes in Allie without knowing anything about her except that she came out of nowhere! He was amazing, I'm totally crushing on him! :)

All in All:
I LOVED THIS BOOK! IT WAS AMAZING!!! :) Okay caps off now... For the people who are skeptical about this book because they think it's like Twilight, forget that! It was amazing, and very different than Twilight! 5 out of 5 tacos!

Waiting on Wednesday: 5/23/12

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine! It showcases books that we can't wait on to come out!

This week I'm waiting on Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson!

Nothing ever happens in Norway. But at least Ellie knows what to expect when she visits her grandmother: a tranquil fishing village and long, slow summer days. And maybe she’ll finally get out from under the shadow of her way-too-perfect big brother, Graham, while she’s there.
What Ellie doesn’t anticipate is Graham’s infuriating best friend, Tuck, tagging along for the trip. Nor did she imagine boys going missing amid rumors of impossible kidnappings. Least of all does she expect something powerful and ancient to awaken in her and that strange whispers would urge Ellie to claim her place among mythological warriors. Instead of peace and quiet, there’s suddenly a lot for a girl from L.A. to handle on a summer sojourn in Norway! And when Graham vanishes, it’s up to Ellie—and the ever-sarcastic, if undeniably alluring Tuck—to uncover the truth about all the disappearances and thwart the nefarious plan behind them.
Deadly legends, hidden identities, and tentative romance swirl together in one girl’s unexpectedly-epic coming of age.

Valkyrie Rising is released on October 9, 2012.

Review: The Enchantress

Title: The Enchantress
Author: Michael Scott
Published: 4/22/12
Source: eGalley

Synopsis:
The two that are one must become the one that is all. One to save the world, one to destroy it.
San Francisco:
Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel have one day left to live, and one job left to do. They must defend San Francisco. The monsters gathered on Alcatraz Island have been released and are heading toward the city. If they are not stopped, they will destroy everyone and everything in their path.
But even with the help of two of the greatest warriors from history and myth, will the Sorceress and the legendary Alchemyst be able to defend the city? Or is it the beginning of the end of the human race?
Danu Talis:
Sophie and Josh Newman traveled ten thousand years into the past to Danu Talis when they followed Dr. John Dee and Virginia Dare. And it’s on this legendary island that the battle for the world begins and ends.
Scathach, Prometheus, Palamedes, Shakespeare, Saint-Germain, and Joan of Arc are also on the island. And no one is sure what—or who—the twins will be fighting for.
Today the battle for Danu Talis will be won or lost.
But will the twins of legend stand together?
Or will they stand apart—
one to save the world and one to destroy it?

Review:

I really enjoyed the enchantress. Michael Scott really ends his series with a bang, and he explains everything that needs to be explained. He makes the story end with finality and leaves without questions. Well, besides why did this have to end? I loved the Alchemist series from the start and it is sad to see the end of the series.

Cover:
The cover has the same look as the other matches the others. I like the changes they made to match and how the titles match what the main new person is.

Plot/Writing:
The story was very well written and intriguing. It answered a lot of your questions and it ended the series with a big bang. You didn’t see half of the stuff coming, and when it came it hit you right smack in the face. You were thrown into the story, just like you have been with all of the others. The books were amazing and the type you couldn’t put down.

Characters:
There are way too many characters to single out one. The Flamel's are still a major part of the series. Trying to protect Sophie and Josh, they will do anything for them. Even stop a hoard of monsters from attacking San Francisco. Sophie and Josh are thrown into a new world, one they don’t know and they take it in stride. The twins hold onto each other as a life line, and sacrifice everything they know for this mysterious world, and an even more mysterious prophecy.

Then there is the gang, Scathach, Prometheus, Palamedes, Shakespeare, Saint-Germain, Joan of Arc, and many other characters that have been mentioned throughout the series. It was nice to see all of the characters again, and to see how they evolved over the years.

All in All:
Wow. It was one heck of a way to end the series. I am sad to see them end, and well, this is one series that you should pick up! If you don’t, then that’s your loss. 4 out of 5 tacos!

Review: Fated

Title: Fated
Author: Alyson Noel
Published: May 22, 2012
Source: Publisher

Synopsis:
The first book in a magnificent new series about a girl who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead by #1 New York Times bestselling author Alyson Noël.

Lately strange things have been happening to Daire Santos. Animals follow her, crows mock her, and glowing people appear out of nowhere. Worried that Daire is having a nervous breakdown, her mother packs her off to stay in the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico with a grandmother she’s never met.

There she crosses paths with Dace, a gorgeous guy with unearthly blue eyes who she’s encountered before...but only in her dreams. And she’ll get to know her grandmother—a woman who recognizes Daire’s bizarre episodes for what they are. A call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, one who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead. Her grandmother immediately begins teaching her to harness her powers—but it’s an art that must be mastered quickly. Because Dace’s brother is an evil shape-shifter who’s out to steal her powers. Now Daire must embrace her fate as a Soul Seeker and find out if Dace is one guy she’s meant to be with...or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy.
Review:
Fated is one roller coaster ride of a book. Alyson Noel has created another amazing world in Fated. One that was hard to put down, even if the beginning was a little creepy and confusing.

Cover:
The cover is just plain gorgeous! I really like the color and the model they chose for Fated. I has a very simplistic look, but means a lot if you read the book.

Plot/Writing:
At the beginning, the story was very weird and confusing. We had to wait a couple chapters to fully realize what was going on. Once you passed the 5 chapter the story got really good. It had a nice progression and everything started to make sense! I really got into the story after that. I felt the emotions of the characters and it was an awesome feeling!

Characters:
Daire was one fiery hot character. She moves around a lot, and her whole life is in a duffel bag. She doesn't make any long standing commitments, the only one she really has is her mother and then she even loses that one when she is sent to live with her long lost grandma. She is strong, and very powerful, but she is also confused. You learn a lot about Daire, and you love her a little more with each page!

Dace, ahh Dace. I love Dace. I want to take him away into the cave that Daire chills in and just keep him there to stare at him. He is so sweet and kind, he is one of those pure souls that can never do wrong. The kind that helps old ladies cross the road and that you want to be your knight in shinning armor. (I know realise that cave comment was really weird.. Oh well)

All in all:
I cannot wait to read more on the Soul Seekers series! I really want to see how Alyson Noel works on this one! You should definitely pre-order this one! It is worth it! 4 out of 5 Tacos!
