Review: Lies Beneath

Synopsis:

Review:
Lies beneath will drag you under and won't release you until you turn to the last page of the book. Even then it leaves you wanting more. I loved Lies Beneath, it was an amazing read.

Cover:
The cover seemed to be misleading. Of course the book is about mermaids, but the main character is male and if I would expect the mermaid to be male. Other than that little fact I loved the cover! It was cute and perfect for the story!

Plot/Writing:
Lies Beneath was really well written. The story line was well developed and very interesting. The way the story was written had you falling more and more in love with the characters as the story went on. I loved the way she described everything. I could picture the way things were in my head and it was nice to see all those images.

Characters:
Calder was a very interesting character. HE was a very determined character. He followed his instincts, even if they went against his sisters. He doesn't fit in quite so well with the human population so it is quite funny to see him try to adjust and not look like a total freak doing that. :)

The there's Lily, who is a sort of rebelling teen who loves poetry and all things dramatic. She follows her instincts and always says whats on her mind. She finds the beauty in everything and is very dedicated to her family, even with the rebelling teeness. I would love to be Lily! She was awesome!

All in All:
I really enjoyed Lies Beneath! It is an amazing read and if you like mermaids then this is the book for you! :) 5 of 5 tacos!

Review: Spectral

Review:

I really enjoyed Spectral. It was a new and interesting kind of story that hasn’t been discovered yet. Spectral was different and interesting, and it kept you focused on the book, which was a very good thing!

Cover:

The cover was really pretty. It drew you in and captured your attention. Her face is so captivating that it held your focus for a few seconds, and then it would release you and let your eyes wander to the pretty butterfly on her arm! J

Plot/Writing:

The story had a mysterious tone to it. All you wanted to do was find out why she was on the run and who her family was running from. Spectral is full of twists and turns that keep your attention and makes you turn the pages. It was very well written, and there were almost no spelling and grammar mistakes that I picked up on!

Characters:

Jewel is the follower type, or that’s what it makes you believe in the beginning of the book. She is moved from school to school, running from some mysterious person who her parents refuse to tell her. She decides she wants to know the truth, and when she begins digging she is determined, and no one can stop her.

Then there is Roman, who, according to me, is amazingly sexy. He is the “bad boy” type that everyone tells you to stay away from, but you don’t and they end up being the sweetest and most caring people ever. Yeah, that’s Roman. While he is that, he is also surrounded by an air of mystery, and you never can quite pinpoint him until the very end.

All in All:

I really enjoyed Spectral. It was a quick and easy read, and you should definitely read it if you like stories about witches! J 4 out of 5 Tacos!

Review: Rapture

Review:
Wow… That was one heck of a way to end the series. It made you stop and think about what was going one and what has all happened in the past. Rapture was the conclusion that you couldn’t put down for the life of you and all you wanted to see was how Luce and Daniel would end up.


Cover:
The cover completes the set, and goes along with one of the settings in the book. It was beautiful and creepy, just like the other covers.


Plot/Writing:
Well, it was never boring that’s for sure. You were always invested in what was happening. The story never had a dull moment. It continued to amaze me with all the new ideas and how the story finally came together in the end. Lauren Kate never ceases to shock me with the story and how she tied it all together and polished everything off nicely.


Characters:
Luce is the same as ever, but not quite. Sure she’s stronger and has her past lives with her now, but she is still the same girl at heart. She has all her same morals and is still Luce. The Luce that you have come to know and love throughout the series, maybe with a little something extra, but still the ever amazing, strong and beautiful Luce!

Daniel, well there isn’t really words for Daniel. He is still tormented with all of Luce’s past lives and he is trying to get past that. He is there for the whole story and you learn a lot about his character, which is nice because you haven’t really seen a lot of this completely open and honest Daniel. He is still as sexy as ever though! ;)


All in All:
I am going to miss Luce and Daniel, Arriane and Roland, Shelby and Miles, Cam, Molly and Gabbe. All of them will forever be in my heart. A great way to end the series and I hope to see more of Lauren Kate’s writing! Goodbye angels. 4 out of 5 tacos!

Review: Of Poseidon

Review:
OH MY GOSH! THIS BOOK WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I couldn't put it down at all. I started it while reading City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare because my school doesn't allow Nooks during standardized testing. But I finished it in about 2 and half hours! It was that amazing!

It is gorgeous! That is all.


Plot/Writing:
So the writing wasn’t the best. I could predict almost everything and I was fine with that. It was nice to not have my heart wrenched out with every turn of the page. Though I did love how she incorporated myth and everything into the story. The story kept you interested and had me smiling and laughing throughout the whole book. I had my teacher creeped out cause I would keep smiling like an idiot and I was in the front row.


Characters:
Emma has just lost her best friend and she blames herself. She is ridden with quilt, and when the boy who was there at the beach when her friend died, shows up at her school she is nothing if not confused. She has do deal with all these changes in her life, and she takes them all in stride. She doesn’t shut down and curl in a ball. Emma deals with it all and makes the best of it, even if it does confuse the crap out of her!

Then there is Galen, who is a creepy stalker type. Or at least, that’s what he seems like. Galen is sweet, caring and protective of Emma in ways they both don’t quite understand. He doesn’t quite understand the humans and he doesn’t quite know how to deal with them.


All in All:
I really loved Of Poseidon! It was a great read and definitely worth the read! Job well done Anna Banks! 5 out of 5 tacos!
